Sugart – Cake decoration is a family owned company, that was founded back in 1980 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The company is successfully active, since then, in the field of cake decoration, having a very powerful production unit and a strong distribution network. The factory produces sugarpaste, sugarpaste ribbons, sugarpaste plaques, sugar articles and decorations, and various packaging materials. We are proud to be the company that envisioned and created the sugarpaste ribbon, presented it to the world market and established the category in the sector of edible cake decoration. In addition, the company distributes a wide variety of other items that complement its range and meet all the needs of its customers.

This family owned company, started its journey back in 1980. The founder of Sugart, Salagiannis Athanasios, coming from a family of confectioners, helped from a very young age, his father in the patisserie they owned. After graduating, he decided to enter the field of cake decoration and start his own business. He made his first steps, having the valuable assistance and experience of his father, and in 1977 set up a small workshop that produced handmade sugar decorations, which he distributed in bakeries and pastry shops, throughout Greece, with a small van. The products quickly became popular in the Greek market and in early 1980 moved into a larger workshop, where Sugart was born. The first sugarpaste ribbon was produced back in 1987. Next came the sugarpaste plaques with chocolate printing in 1993 and then the first sugarpaste in bulk in 1995. Many other products followed, and throughout this journey, the company grew slowly and steadily, while constantly expanding its range of products. Sugart changed several places, during its growth and in 1991, moved to private owned facilities of 1500 sqm, at Thermi Thessaloniki, in which houses up until today. In 2004, alongside with her studies, the daughter of the founder Athanasios Salagiannis, Stefania Salagianni, began to work in the company, too. Since 2008, and after graduating from the university, where she studied Economic Science, has been actively involved in the dynamic of the company. In 2008, the third member of the family, Demetrious Salagiannis, joined the company, while studying Production & Management Engineering. After finishing his studies, he attended numerous seminars on computer numerical control and automation and their integration into the production process. In 2007, Sugart doubled its premises, reaching 3000 sqm, which made the company even more flexible. During 2012 up to 2015, a series of major investments in technological equipment, various machinery and production lines, gave the company a huge boost, raised the production capacity significantly and made Sugart very competitive in the global market. Today, Sugart exports its products in more than 20 countries all over the world, while its export activity is constantly growing.
The Sugart is certified by the internationally recognized Food Safety & Quality Management System IFS Version 6, which allows the entire production process to be controlled and very high quality standards to be reached. Furthermore, in an effort to serve more markets, Sugart has been certified with Kosher, as well.
Promotion of the company’s products to the world market, is being achieved by the participation in renowned international traid fairs of the industry, such as IBA & ISM in Germany, SIGEP in Italy, Cake International in UK, Gulfood in U.A.E and many other around the world. Our target is to always be close to the proffesionals of the industry, keep in touch with current partners and customers, meet with new people and build new steady business relationships, having the opportunity to showcase and demonstrate our latest innovative products.
